Internationally renowned artist Alex Katz is one of the most important American artists to have emerged since 1950. This exhibition features a selection of his large-scale “cartoons”. They are in fact one-to-one fabrications of his visual ideas which he then uses to compose a painting. Katz began making these cartoons in the early 70s when he first launched into a new scale for his canvases. The exhibition in the East Gallery is composed of cartoons and drawings, guest curated by Michael Klein. The West Gallery features a selection of related prints and paintings. USFCAM will publish a catalog in conjuction with this exhibition. This exhibition is made possible by the Members and Corporate Partners of USFCAM, with special support from Maureen and Doug Cohn.
