The Untitled work for the H. Lee Moffitt Research Center is based upon a painting by the Russian Supremacist painter Kazimir Malevich. Richard Fleischner reworked the colors and patterns of Malevich's Suprematism (1915) to create both interior and exterior sculptural and functional elements. Working with the existing lobby space and building front, Fleischner's exterior steel and granite elements continue the pattern on his linoleum floor. A similar granite block supports the wood, metal and glass stairway that extends across part of the interior space. The interior furniture and furnishings continue and reflect the linear design through their own use of line in their make up. The design of the project is enhanced by furniture either designed or chosen by the artist for the space.
New construction in 2006, which significantly altered the lobby location of Fleischner project, required that the artwork be removed. The University and the Moffitt Research Center coordinated the deaccessioning of the artwork with Richard Fleischner.
