CAM + Graphicstudio Internships

The USF Institute for Research in Art is pleased to accept a limited number of students for unpaid internships each semester at the Contemporary Art Museum (CAM) and Graphicstudio. Internships are competitive. IRA internship are for credit only. Priority is given to graduating seniors. Those only seeking museum experience, can email Amy Allison to discuss volunteer opportunities.

CAM offers unpaid internships for students from a variety of majors that could focus on one of the following museum areas:

  • Administration: Assist with grant research/writing, project concept and management, curatorial research, exhibition planning and execution.
  • Collections: Assist with Collection inventories, documentation, research and label writing as well as art handling and collection management.
  • Education: Facilitate and write reviews of the educational events surrounding the current exhibition, research and write about artwork, collaborate on the docent training program, and learn about museum education practices.
  • Installation: Assist in the process of installation and de-installation of art exhibitions, building exhibition furniture, as well as painting, cleaning and preparing galleries.
  • Public Art and Social Practice: Assist in research on the public art collection, document and collaborate on community events and engagement.

Graphicstudio offers unpaid internships in the following atelier related areas. Internships are competitive with priority given to students from the USF School of Art and Art History, however interns from other departments or institutions are considered.

  • Etching
  • Lithography
  • Sculpture Fabrication
  • Digital / Photography
  • Curating
  • Marketing

Internship Application Information

Deadline: All CAM and Graphicstudio internship applications for Summer 2024 are due by April 5, 2024! This is a firm deadline; no late applications will be accepted.

In addition to this completed Internship Application all applicants please submit the following:

Art Studio Majors

  • Letter of Interest
  • Resume
  • 5 images (high resolution jpgs; no more than 1MB each)

Art History Majors

  • Letter of Interest
  • Resume
  • PDF of paper completed in the last two years

Non-School of Art and Art History Majors

  • Letter of Interest highlighting relevant experience
  • Resume
